Chipotle Mexican Grill Selected Sever Construction to Build Its New Location in Blaine, Minn.

The Mexican restaurant and catering food chain is growing its footprint throughout Minnesota, featuring the latest Pick-Up Window trend – the Chipotlane

In August 2021, our team was in conversation with Chipotle’s preferred design partner, Wilkus Architects. An existing relationship with the Hopkins-based A&D firm assisted with our positioning to learn more about Chipotle’s local development plans.

Our construction team was brought in early to review prototype designs for the 2,300-square-foot ground-up shell building and tenant buildout located in Blaine, MN.

The “North Blaine” location offers indoor service, indoor dining, and an outdoor patio. Additionally, the building design includes a new mobile pick-up window, called the ‘Chipotlane.’ This type of digital app technology format is a growing trend in the fast-casual food industry. The new pick-up window concept supports a mainline focus on takeout and digital orders reducing time in line and providing an efficient user experience.

The Scope with a Side of Guac

Sever Construction completed the exterior shell and interior buildout for this quick service restaurant. We excavated and installed the footings and foundation walls; the structure was stick framed and plywood covering was applied. We installed the aluminum and glass storefront, metal canopies, roof, EIFS, and metal panels.

For the interior, we installed quarry floor tile, wall tile, and FRP in the kitchen. The dining area floors are polished concrete where we also installed tables, chairs, lighting, and artwork.

The store’s grand opening was held on April 20, 2022.
