National Lighting Solution Provider Moves into New Workspace Located in Plymouth, MN
At the start of September 2017, Sever Construction kicked off construction for the new Energy Management Collaborative (EMC) headquarters space. Partnered with JLL, NTH, and BDH, our teams created a renewed and vibrant working environment for the growing EMC team.
This national lighting solution provider, featured in the Star Tribune, is located at the Vicksburg Business Center in Plymouth, MN. Completing the project three weeks ahead of schedule, Sever Construction renovated the 40,000-square-foot suite over the course of five months.
“The Sever Construction team was a great partner throughout the project and delivered a fantastic space,” commented Bryon Tamasi, EMC’s manager of project management.
“The 200-person company was operating in a cramped 17,000-square-foot office space which had already doubled in size since 2002,” stated in the recent MSPBJ Cool Office article.
The beautifully finished space features a state-of-the-art motion sensor management system which operates 40 different LED light fixtures; producing a smart and responsive environment. Throughout the workspace are wood trellis elements that connect near the border of the exposed ceiling deck, as well as skylights and high-end finishes. Informative wall graphics outline the world’s light source history and EMC’s growth timeline bringing life to the newly formed white walls.
The new build design came equipped with an open concept, carved out meeting spaces, conference rooms and private quarters. Automated and ergonomic workstations act as an innovative and flexible furnish that will adapt to EMC’s departmental growth.
Sever Construction carried out a series of services for this project, including the construction and installation of millwork, doors and frames, glazing, window film, drywall, ACT, VCT, HVAC, plumbing, fire sprinklers, and electrical work.
The EMC office grand opening was held on April 25, 2018. The new EMC CEO, Howard Heckes, was in attendance and presented to the large audience sharing details of the company’s effort to conserve and maximize energy use and costs, retail benefits and customer trends. City of Plymouth’s Mayor, Kelli Slavik, proudly shared her support for EMC’s presence and their impact on the surrounding community.
